When is the Oklahoma homestead exemption deadline?
Oklahoma's homestead exemption deadline is March 15, according to Oklahoma Tax Commission.
Applications must be filed on or before March 15 of such year, or within 30 days of receiving a valuation increase notice; late applications are considered for the following tax year.
A state date, applied by 77 county assessors
Oklahoma sets the date and the county assessor takes the application. The counties in our set state it consistently, which makes Oklahoma the opposite of Georgia: here the state answer holds and the county page earns its place through the form, the office and the online route rather than through a different date.
The state form is one form, and the county still matters
Oklahoma publishes a statewide application form, which several other states in our set do not. You still file it with your county assessor, and where a county runs its own filing portal, its page links it.
The largest county is the one we could not re-check
Oklahoma County's site refuses automated access from us entirely, so its record comes from a single collection read that nobody has been able to re-open since. Its page says so, at the top, next to the date. That is not a formality: it is the difference between a fact and a fact we can stand behind.
More about Oklahoma
- Is there an income limit on the Oklahoma homestead exemption?
- The base exemption has none. Additional relief for lower-income and senior homeowners exists as a separate claim with its own limits, and it is a different application from the one this page is about.
- What happens after I am granted it?
- County records in our set describe it as continuing while you own and occupy the property, without an annual re-application. Selling or moving ends it, and the new home needs a fresh application.
